DWI Florida Driver Sends Car Into 'Shades Of Death Row' Ditch, Passenger Airlifted

A 26-year-old man was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries after a drunk driver lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch in Warren County, State Police said.

Manuel Castillo Romas, 45, of Clewiston, Florida, was driving a Ford Explorer on Shades of Death Road in Liberty Township when he lost control and drove into a ditch shortly before 8:15 p.m. Sunday, New Jersey State Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice.

His passenger was flown to Morristown Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was last listed in stable condition, Goez said.

Romas was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Hackettstown Hospital. He has since been released and charged with DWI, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
